What is VITEEE?

Vellore Institute of Technology Engineering Entrance Examination is conducted every year by Vellore Institute of Technology for admission to undergraduate engineering courses (B.Tech.) of participating institutes. Every year, VITEEE is conducted to admit students into various undergraduate courses. Every year around two lakh students apply for VITEEE. All eligible candidates will be offered admission into B.Tech programs at VIT Vellore, Chennai, Bhopal and Amaravati. Since 2018, the university is also offering admission to BDes (Industrial Design) through VITEEE.

VITEEE 2024 Admission Process

VITEEE 2024 Application Form

The authorities have released the VITEEE 2024 application form online. While registering for VITEEE 2024, the candidates are required to fill in their details and also provide their email ID. Once the registration is completed, the candidates will have to confirm their password and fill out the complete application form for VITEEE 2024. Candidates are advised to pay extra attention while entering their date of birth (DOB) in the application form. An application fee of INR 1,350 (inclusive of GST) – for general candidates has to be paid online via Netbanking/Credit/Debit card/Paytm. 

VITEEE 2024 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates can check the eligibility criteria of VITEEE 2024 to know the different conditions that they have to meet to be eligible for admission.

Nationality: The applicant for admission should be a Resident/Non-Resident Indian National/PIO Holder.

Age Limit: Candidates whose date of birth falls on or after July 1, 2002, will be eligible to apply for VITEEE 2024. The date of birth as recorded in the High School Certificate will be considered authentic. Candidates should produce this certificate in original as proof of their age at the time of counselling, failing which, they will be disqualified.

Qualifying Examination: Candidates appearing for the VITEEE 2024 should have either completed or shall be appearing in 2024, in any one of the following qualifying examinations:

  1. The final examination of the Class 12 system of Higher Secondary Examination is conducted by the State Board; Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE, New Delhi), The Council for Indian School Certificate Examination (ISCE), New Delhi
  2. Intermediate or Two-year Pre-University Examination conducted by a recognized Board/ University
  3. High School Certificate Examination of the Cambridge University or International Baccalaureate Diploma of the International Baccalaureate Office, Geneva
  4. General Certificate Education (GCE) examination (London/Cambridge/Sri Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level
    As per VIT Norms, Regular ‘NIOS’ board candidates are also eligible for VITEEE. They should produce the Migration Cum Transfer Certificate at the time of joining
  5. Candidates who have studied Regular, Full Time and Formal education are eligible to apply

Eligibility Criteria in the Qualifying Examination

  • Candidates appearing for the VITEEE in 2024 should have secured a minimum aggregate of 60% in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics/Biology in the qualifying examination (+2/Intermediate)
  • The average marks obtained in the subjects Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics/Biology in the qualifying examination (+2/Intermediate) put together should be 50% for the following categories:

(a) Candidates belonging to SC/ST Community

(b) Candidates hailing from Jammu and Kashmir/ Ladakh and the North-Eastern states of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, and Tripura.

  • The certificate to prove nativity should be produced at the time of counselling, failing which they will not be considered for admission
  • In case, the mark statement is not produced by the candidates at the time of admission, the decision of the Management regarding his/her eligibility and admission to the programme shall be final.
  • For Indian nationals/ NRI/ PIO cardholders, appearance in VITEEE-2024 is mandatory to be eligible for BTech admission
  • In case VITEEE gets cancelled due to natural calamities, qualifying criteria may be substituted with higher secondary marks or JEE Main 2024 scores or a valid SAT

Subject Eligibility Criteria:

  • Candidates who have studied Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics in the qualifying examination are eligible for all the B.Tech. Degree programmes
  • Candidates who have studied Physics, Chemistry, and Biology in the qualifying examination are eligible only for B.Tech. Bio-stream Degree programmes as below, but after joining, registering for Mathematics as a bridge course is mandatory BTech Bio-engineering, Biotechnology, CSE with specialisation in Bioinformatics, ECE with specialisation in Biomedical Engineering programmes
  • Even though the admission is done as per the VITEEE ranking, the candidate has to fulfil the eligibility norms mentioned

VITEEE 2024 Slot Booking | VIT Vellore Direct Admission

The authorities will commence the VITEEE 2024 slot booking process for all registered candidates. To book their preferred slots, the candidates will have to log in using their application number and password. Since the slot booking facility is a first-come-first-serve process, the candidates are advised to complete it as soon as possible. If the candidates fail to book their slots before the final date, then the authorities will automatically allot the slots as per the availability. No requests for change of allotted seats will be accepted by the authorities.

VITEEE 2024 Admit Card

Registered candidates will be able to access the VITEEE admit card 2024 after completing the slot booking process. The admit card will contain details such as the allotted exam centre, date, timings, and more. Candidates must present their VITEEE 2024 admit card and valid identity proof (Aadhaar Card/Voter ID/Passport/PAN Card/School ID) at the exam centre. Without the admit card, candidates will not be allowed to attempt the examination. Therefore, candidates are advised to keep their admit cards safe until the end of the admission process.

Differential Calculus Limits, continuity and differentiability of functions – Derivative is a rate of change, velocity, acceleration, and related rates, and derivative as a measure of slope, tangent, normal and angle between curves. Mean value theorem – Rolle’s Theorem, Lagrange Mean Value Theorem, Taylor’s and Maclaurin’s series, L’ Hospital’s Rule, stationary points, increasing, decreasing, maxima, minima, concavity, convexity and points of inflexion. Errors and approximations – absolute, relative, percentage errors – curve tracing, partial derivatives, Euler’s theorem.
Integral Calculus and its Applications Simple definite integrals – fundamental theorems of calculus, properties of definite integrals. Reduction formulae – reduction formulae for x dx n sin and x dx n cos, Bernoulli’s formula. Area of bounded regions, length of the curve.
Differential Equations Differential equations – formation of differential equations, order and degree, solving differential equations (1st order), variables separable, homogeneous and linear equations. Taxonomy Need for classification; three domains of life. Linnaean, Whittaker, Bentham and Hooker systems of classification. Salient features of non-chordates up to phyla levels and chordates up to class levels.
Cell and Molecular Biology Cell theory. Prokaryotic cell and it’s ultrastructure. Eukaryotic cell- cell wall, cell membrane, cytoskeleton, nucleus, chloroplast, mitochondria, endoplasmic reticulum, Golgi bodies, ribosomes, lysosomes, vacuoles and centrosomes. Cell cycle and division – amitosis, mitosis and meiosis. Genetics and evolution Chromosomes – structure and types, linkage and crossing over, recombination of chromosomes, mutation and chromosomal aberrations. Mendelian inheritance, chromosomal theory of inheritance, deviation from Mendelian ratio (incomplete dominance, co-dominance, multiple allelism, pleiotrophy), sex-linked inheritance and sex determination in humans. Darwinism, neo-Darwinism, Hardy and Weinberg’s principle and factors affecting the equilibrium: selection, mutation, migration and random genetic drift.
Human health and diseases Pathogens, parasites causing human diseases (malaria, dengue, chikungunya, filariasis, ascariasis, typhoid, pneumonia, common cold, amoebiasis, ringworm) and their control. Basic concepts of immunology, vaccines, antibiotics, cancer, HIV and AIDS. Adolescence, drug and alcohol abuse.
Biochemistry Structure and function of carbohydrates, lipids and proteins. Enzymes – types, properties and enzyme action. Metabolism – glycolysis, Kreb’s cycle and pentose phosphate pathway.
Plant physiology Movement of water, food, nutrients, gases and minerals. Passive diffusion, facilitated diffusion, and active transport. Imbibition, osmosis, apoplast and symplast transport and guttation. Transpiration, photosynthesis (light and dark reactions) and electron transport chain. 2 Hormones and growth regulators, photoperiodism and vernalization. Biotechnology and its applications Recombinant DNA technology, applications in health, agriculture and industries; genetically modified organisms; Human insulin, vaccine and antibiotic production. Stem cell technology and gene therapy. Apiculture and animal husbandry. Plant breeding, tissue culture, single cell protein, fortification, Bt crops and transgenic animals. Biodiversity, ecology and environment Ecosystems: components, types, pyramids, nutrient cycles (carbon and phosphorous), ecological succession and energy flow in an ecosystem; Biodiversity – concepts, patterns, importance, conservation, hot spots, endangered organisms, extinction, Red data book, botanical gardens, national parks, sanctuaries, museums, biosphere reserves and Ramsar sites. Environmental issues: pollution and its control. Population attributes – growth, birth and death rate and age distribution.
